Programme Overview
An Automotive Executive greets and
talks with customers, determine the work that needs to be done on the
customer's vehicle, and then prepare a service order. When routine maintenance
is required, they will simply speak with the customer to determine the type of
service necessary. However, when the vehicle requires more extensive repairs,
they may question the customer further, visually inspect the vehicle, or
test-drive it on the road. Their service orders include a description of the
vehicle's problems to help the automotive service technician know where to
start. The cost of repairs and the time needed for completion is also included
in the service order. After the service is completed, they meet with the
customer to answer questions and reconcile the billing process. If the customer
disagrees with the cost, the automotive Executive will refer them to the
service manager.
Automotive Executive must also have
strong communication and sales skills. They need to be able to talk with
customers and explain the type of service their vehicles require, and they are
the ones responsible for selling the services of the garage or other company
they work for. Because of the high visibility of their job, employers usually
seek employees who are neat and clean in appearance, and who are relaxed and
attentive listeners. Besides having a solid technical background which we
prepared them through 3 Level of certificates ie:
Certificate in Automotive Technician ;
Certificate in Motor Vehicle Technician and Certificate in Motor Vehicle
Senior Technician , they must also
be able to write clearly and add correctly. Basic computer skills can be very
helpful as well.
The job of an Automotive Executive/
Motor Vehicle Senior Technician has changed dramatically during the last twenty
years, from the relatively straight forward mechanical engineering of the
majority of the twentieth century to today’s high technology integrated
electronic systems and computerized system management. This increasing
sophistication means that the industry requires well qualified and trained
technicians with good diagnostic and problem-solving skills. Automotive
Executive/ Motor Vehicle Senior Technician have to be able to use computerized diagnostic
and maintenance equipment, and understand the principles of much of the control
systems now used in modern cars. They also need the more traditional skills of
mechanical engineering. Even though the sector is increasingly demanding but it
is a very rewarding career for those who excel in it. Our program is tailored
make for those ambitious individual who would like to join the country booming
automotive sector. With a Diploma in Automotive Executive from Riam Institute
of Technology, it well-positioned and equipped the holder for a successful
career.
What is Jabatan Pembangunan Kemahiran (JPK)?
Also known as
the Department of Skills Development, a division from the Ministry of Human
Resources, Malaysia, this department is responsible
for the co-ordination and control of skills training as well as career
development in skills training, locally. Recognised
by both private companies and governmental agencies, the qualification is a
pre-requisite to many other vocational training.
